Brian M. Ferrell

Brian regularly represents businesses, local governments and commercial real estate clients in a wide variety of legal matters.  Brian serves as outside counsel to a number of corporate clients at various stages in the business lifecycle.  He counsels entrepreneurs and nonprofit entities on start-up issues and has assisted clients of various sizes with business sales and acquisitions. 

Brian was appointed Caswell County Attorney in 2011 and continues to serve in that capacity.  He represents local governmental entities across North Carolina on specific projects including the representation of local boards of adjustment and boards of election in quasi-judicial hearings.  He advises local governments on conservation easements, real estate components of bond financings and other real estate matters. 

Brian serves as counsel to private real estate developers assisting in all legal aspects of development projects.  He represents both landlords and tenants in lease transactions.  Brian serves as lender’s counsel and borrower’s counsel in commercial loan transactions.  

Brian was elected by his peers to serve as the president of the Judicial District 15B Bar in 2015 and he was elected to The Fellows of the American Bar Foundation in June.  He currently serves as a member and officer on the Board of Directors of Durham Meals on Wheels and is a member and former Chair of the 15B Mentoring Committee.  Brian lives in his hometown of Chapel Hill with his wife and two daughters.
